One Last Day

I have one last day.

And then I have no more classes.

I handed in my last essay last night.

My next assignment, a take-home exam, is due on the 11th. The 11th. And then I have an exam on the 15th. Yeah, that's right. Over a month away. And then I'm homeward bound.

W00T!

One more 8:30. Granted, that's tomorrow, and I NEED to go to bed, but, hey, only one more.

And it's not like I don't have stuff to do. HOH-NO. I have stuff to do. Stuff I finally have the time to do. And I'll edit other people's papers. I'll be plugged in. I'll be active. I'll clean. I still have my extra-curricullar. Just...no school-stuff.

But think of the low stress. Think of the sleep! Ah, it will be sweet.

That is all, I suppose.

To bed.

My English is neutered and plastic? (I had to say it, though for the general populous of America, I think I agree.)
I think I used semicolons more often in elementary school and high school than I do now. I think my sentences became more concise (or at least I hope so). My high school English teacher broke me of the comma splice problem. I got in trouble for that and for pronoun agreement (though I usually figured that people could use context clues to ascertain my meaning). I do, however, remember absolutely loving hitting the semicolon key on my keyboard, perhaps because I did it so rarely.

My problem with American English is its ideological stance on language change. That stance is that 'efficiency' is better, so u is dropped from colour and cheque becomes check, etc. The idiosyncrasies that preserve both character and etymology are lost in this process, and I prefer a language that is aesthetically as well as denotatively communicative.

Also, American spellings (as with everything else) seep into Canada at an alarming rate, and the natural response tends to knee-jerk, by which I mean punting it as hard as you can. My apologies if you felt any vitriol.
